Associate, Treasury & Markets (Resource Mobilization & Client Solutions)

Our Client the African Export-Import Bank AFREXIMBANK is looking to recruit for an Associate (Resources Mobilization) within the Treasury & Markets department in Cairo, Egypt.

The role is to support the Senior Manager, International Resource Mobilization in raising funding to ensure that the funding requirements of the Bank are met at all times, through administering long-term funding programs and structuring long-term borrowing transactions that are cost-effective and fit for purpose. Also, the incumbent will take charge of transactions input into the Treasury Management System, maintaining up-to-date records of treasury transactions and updating on a regular basis all reports produced by the Treasury and Markets Department.

 

Responsibilities

Working under the supervision of the Senior Manager, International Resources Mobilization, the incumbent will be responsible for the following:

a. Liquidity Management Strategy, Analysis, Planning, and Funding Execution

  •  Assist the Senior Manager, Resource Mobilization to develop the Bank’s yearly funding plan.
  • Assist with debt and capital market analysis.
  • Assist with the execution of the Bank’s long-term funding strategy by giving support to the Senior Manager.
  • Help the Senior Manager to Identify new funding sources in order to diversify the Bank’s funding sources.
  • Gather information required for updating all necessary funding documentation.
  • Support the Manager, Africa Resource Mobilization in the daily circulation of interest rate levels to stakeholders.
  • Prepare and circulate Private Placement levels on a regular basis.
  • Assist the Senior Manager in drafting Request for Proposals for borrowing activities that include syndications and Debt Capital Market (DCM) transactions, amongst others.
  • Assist the Senior Manager in the analysis of borrowing proposals submitted by banks for funding transactions.
  • Assist the Guarantees and Specialized Funding department with the analysis and recommendation on pricing quoted by ECSs & DFIs; and
  • Help to update processes and procedures for long-term funding.

b. Investor Relationship Management

  • Coordinate preparations for DCM investors’ meetings i.e., Logistics preparation and coordinating with the meeting arranger on the ground with respect to venue and other logistics.
  • Assist with the development of the Bank’s annual treasury activity timetable.
  • Gather information that is used as input in the preparation of investors’ presentations.
  • Build and maintain a database of DCM investors which is used for circulation of updates to the investors; and
  • Assist team members and colleagues in other functions to achieve their objectives.

c. Treasury Transaction Processing

  • Ensure that all borrowing transactions are accurately recorded in the Treasury Management System.
  • Prepare necessary backup for treasury transactions, scan the vouchers for each deal and link the scanned vouchers to the deal on the system. Ensure that all supporting documents for every deal are saved in the system against each deal.
  • Process all invoices relating to fund-raising activities such as arrangement fees, legal fees, etc.

d. Reporting and month-end activities

  • Maintain the treasury headroom table and ensure the same is reported accordingly. This involves updating the headroom schedule with new facilities as well as adjusting the balances with utilized amounts to reflect accurate undrawn balances at all times.
  • Prepare and maintain various schedules required for day-to-day reporting of treasury activities.
  • Assist Senior Managers & Treasury Managers in preparing monthly treasury reports for the Asset and Liability Committee (ALCO) and the Liquidity Management Working Group (LMWG). This involves the preparation of various supporting schedules and appendices required for the ALCO report.
  • Assist Senior Managers and Treasury Managers in maintaining the treasury risk register.
  • Prepare a monthly Treasury market update that will be circulated internally within the Bank; and
  • Develop and maintain the Bank’s funding curves under the supervision of the Senior Manager, International Resource Mobilization.

e. Treasury Risk Management

  • Assist with identifying, documenting, and analysis of treasury risks.
  • Recommend any proposals for hedging treasury risks.

f. Treasury Projects Initiatives

  • Participate in projects that are handled by the Treasury and Markets department as assigned by the Treasurer; and
  • Assist with development of Request for Proposals for procurement of any services related to Treasury projects.

g. Other

  • Conduct any other duties as may be assigned to the jobholder by Senior Management.
  • Assist the Treasury team on all relevant treasury administration work that may be required.

 

Qualifications, Skills, Knowledge, and Attitude

  • Bachelor’s degree and a post-graduate degree in Banking, Finance, or related subject from a recognized University are a must and a Recognized professional certification in a relevant field. 
  • Possession of a treasury professional qualification is an added advantage.
  • At least 5 years of experience in treasury, finance, or related field.
  • Knowledge of capital markets, derivatives products (Interest rates and Foreign Exchange) as well as money market products.
  • Good Excel skills and strong financial modeling skills (derivative pricing and balance-sheet modeling) are required.
  • Solid experience in working with Treasury Management Systems.
  • Ability to communicate and function in a culturally diverse and change-oriented setting with good knowledge of banking practices in Africa.
  • Ability to learn fast.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English. Knowledge of the Bank's other working languages is an added advantage (French, Arabic, and Portuguese); and
  • Demonstrated leadership capabilities, including the ability to get organized and to work autonomously.
