Team Support, Project Preparation

Our Client the African Export-Import Bank AFREXIMBANK is looking to recruit for a Team Support, Project Preparation in Cairo, Egypt.

The role of the position holder will be to assist PRPU with the appraisal and execution of project preparation transactions.  

Key responsibilities

  • Undertake initial screening of applications to ensure they meet the eligibility criteria
  • Provide close support to the team in creating and maintaining the database of PRPU projects
  • Provide analytical support in facilitating a strong pipeline of good quality lending opportunities in support of the Bank’s mandate;
  • Prepare pitches and talk points for meetings with various stakeholders in the project development value chain
  • Prepare industry and market research analysis of the various member countries to support the business development activities of the Bank
  • Support the Manager in all phases of the project development cycle, that is, project feasibility, structuring, and motivating through the credit approval process.
  • Support the Manager to coordinate external due diligence and other advisers working with the Bank on transactions.

Deliverables

  • Review deliverables of appointed advisers for the Bank’s transactions and prepare summary for the Manager.
  • Support the Manager in preparing monthly and reports to Management.
  • Work with the Manager to develop an in-depth trend and industry analysis and draw relevant conclusions from the analysis of the gaps and opportunities in the project preparation space in the continent.
  • Take charge of scheduling deal execution meetings, track outcomes and implementations.
  • Draft sector reports and research papers from time to time to disseminate knowledge about a specific area related to project preparation.

Qualifications, Skills, Knowledge, and Attitude

  • Bachelor’s degree and a post-graduate degree in Banking and Finance, or related subject from a recognized University.
  • A professional qualification like CFA, ACCA, ACA or CPA, or other relevant qualification is an added advantage, and if backed up by appropriate Banking experience may be considered in lieu of a post-graduate degree.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ work experience, 3 of which must have been spent in project finance with exposure to the following sectors – energy, transport and logistics, agro-processing, and manufacturing.
  • Additional relevant work experience includes investment banking or Big four deals/transaction advisory experience, strategy consulting, etc...
  • Ability to communicate and function in a culturally diverse and change-oriented setting.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English or French. Knowledge of the Bank's other working languages is an added advantage.
